He was wounded by a gunshot to his foot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to US Army General Hospital #4 in Frederick, MD on 22 September and transferred to Baltimore on 10 November 1862. He was discharged for disability on 14 February 1863.
