Before Antietam

He enlisted and mustered on 7 June 1861 as a Sergeant in Company D, 14th Indiana Infantry. He was reduced to Private, date not given.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the shoulder in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was discharged on 23 October 1862 to join the regular US Army, and enlisted on that date at Knoxville, MD as a Private in Company C of the 6th United States Cavalry. He was captured, date and place not found, and died of pneumonia in CS General Hospital #21 in Richmond, VA on 30 November 1863.
