Before Antietam
From Vermillion County, IN, he enlisted and mustered in Terra Haute, IN on 7 June 1861 as a Private in Company I, 14th Indiana Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the forehead in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps, date not given, but had later service as a Private in Company D, 59th Indiana Infantry from 2 January to 17 July 1865, when he mustered out at Louisville, KY.
