He enlisted in Banks County, GA on 24 August 1861, and mustered as a Private in Company A, 24th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Crampton's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 16 October and furloughed for 30 days on 22 October 1862. He transferred to Company B, 3rd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters on 8 June 1863 and was captured at Deep Bottom, VA on 16 August 1864. He was a prisoner at Elmira, NY until paroled there on 22 February 1865 and sent to James River, VA for exchange. There is no later military record.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farm worker in Banks County, GA. By 1910 he was a farmer in Franklin County, GA.
