Known by Morgan, he enlisted at Homer in Banks County, GA on 6 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company A, 24th Georgia Infantry.

He was wounded in action at Crampton's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

He was killed in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864.
