Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 21 year old coach trimmer living with wheelwright John Knott and family at Madison in Morgan County, GA. He enlisted there on 29 July 1861 and mustered on 2 August as a Private in Company G, Cobb's Legion Infantry on 5 August.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Crampton's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was home on wounded furlough to 11 February 1863, then detailed as a harness maker to the CS shops in Augusta, GA to at least August 1864, the last record in his military file.
