Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 26 year old farmer at Flint Hill in Carroll County, GA. He enlisted and mustered in Carroll County on 15 August 1861 as a Private in Company F, Cobb's Legion Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Crampton's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 30 October and died there on 1 December 1862. His widow Elizabeth filed for his final pay in February 1863.
