Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 25 year old living with merchant Walton G Foot and family at Tallapoosa in Haralson County, GA. He enlisted on 1 August 1861 in Decatur in DeKalb County, GA and mustered on 5 August as a Private in Company C, Cobb's Legion Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action in Maryland in September 1862, place and date not given.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a Richmond, VA hospital on 25 September then sent to Decatur, GA on wounded furlough on 7 November 1862, and has no later record with the Legion.

He transferred as a Private to Company B of the 3rd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters by June 1863 and was sick in hospitals from 20 February to July 1864, then on furlough to at least December 1864 with no later military record.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farmer at Indian Spring in Butts County, GA.
