Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a married 28 year old farmer on a small place at Barnes Cross Roads, Dale County, AL. He enlisted on 3 March 1862 at Westville, AL and mustered as a Private in Company E, 15th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 1 October and returned to duty on 22 October 1862. He was with his company until discharged on 16 February 1865.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1910 he was a farmer at Barnes Cross Roads/Ozark in Dale County, AL. At the Census of Confederate Soldiers in 1921 he was still living in Ozark.
