Before Sharpsburg

A carpenter's son, in 1860 he was a 16 year old apprentice living with his parents and 6 siblings at Decatur in DeKalb County, GA. He enlisted there on 1 August 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company C of the Infantry Battalion, Cobb's Legion.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Crampton's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father Andrew J. Marshall filed a claim for his final pay in October 1862.
