Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 17 year old farmer living with his parents and 5 siblings on their small farm at Stone Mountain, GA. He enlisted in Atlanta, GA on 8 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company C of the Infantry Battalion, Cobb's Legion.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Crampton's Gap on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father W.M. McKee filed a claim in DeKalb County for his final pay of $61.13 in October 1862. It was paid in April 1863.
