Before Sharpsburg

A planter's son, in 1860 he was a 16 year old living with his father, stepmother (?), 8 siblings, and 12 slaves on their farm near Madison in Morgan County, GA. He enlisted there on 15 May 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company G of the Infantry Battalion, Cobb's Legion.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Crampton's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father Madison filed a claim for his final pay of $119.36 in February 1863, which was probably paid in July 1864.
