Before Sharpsburg

In 1850 he was a 24 year old year farmer in Meriwether County, GA. He enlisted at Camp Stephens, GA on 10 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E, 28th Georgia Infantry. He was wounded in his right shoulder at Malvern Hill, VA on 1 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mentioned by Brigadier General Colquitt for gallantry in Maryland and was wounded again, in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He received pay in December 1862 in Atlanta, GA and was still absent, wounded, to at least December 1863, the last record in his military file.

After the War

By 1870 he was a farmer at Warm Springs in Meriwether County, GA.

He married Adaline F. Gill (1818-) in November 1848 and they had 3 children.
