In 1860 he was a 19 year old farmer living with his parents, 3 siblings, and 4 slaves on their farm at Zebulon in Pike County, GA. He enlisted at Camp Stephens, GA on 10 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E, 28th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mentioned by Brigadier General Colquitt for gallantry in Maryland.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to 4th Sergeant about June 1863. He died of wounds on 30 July 1864 (place and date of wounding not found).

His father Adam filed a claim for his final pay in October 1864.
