Before Sharpsburg
From Choctaw, MS, he enlisted in Carrollton, MS on 29 April 1861 and mustered in Lynchburg, VA on 13 May as a Private in Company K, 11th Mississippi Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.
The rest of the War
He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 18 September then probably sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore for exchange.
He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863, was briefly at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, then a prisoner at Fort Delaware until he took an oath of allegiance to the United States and was released on 11 June 1865.
After the War
In 1900 he was a farm manager in Holmes County, MS and was managing a plantation in Attala County, MS in 1910.
