Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Portsmouth, VA on 16 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company H of the 3rd Battalion, Louisiana Infantry. They became Company H, 15th Louisiana Infantry in July 1862, as their unit consolidated with the 7th Battalion and expanded to a regiment.

On the Campaign

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD, was left behind, and was captured there on the 12th.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 19 September, then probably transferred to Baltimore for exchange. He was on furlough by the end of October and was listed as a deserter after 28 November 1862. There is no later record in his military file.
