David Jordan

A 32 year old farmer, he enlisted on 13 July 1861 in Jacksonville, FL and mustered as a Private in Company 6, 2nd Florida Infantry. There were re-designated Company D in early 1862.

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to about 19 September and afterward was a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was in a hospital in Richmond, VA by 7 October and was formally exchanged on 10 November.He was in Richmond hospitals to at least December 1862.

He was wounded by a gunshot to his left leg which fractured his thigh bone in action at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863 and was absent in a hospital in Richmond and or on wounded furlough home in Ellisville, FL to about August 1864. He was admitted to Jackson Hospital in Richmond in February 1865 for his old leg wound and was captured there on 3 April. He was paroled there on the 18th but "escaped" or "deserted" from the hospital the next day. He was in the US hospital at Fortress Monroe, VA until he was released on 10 May 1865.
