He enlisted at Graysport, MS on 14 August 1861 and mustered as a Private Company D of the 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion.

On the Campaign

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to about 17 September then transferred for exchange. He was back with his company by November 1862.
