Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 16 (13?) year old living with his parents, 4 siblings, and 21 slaves on their farm at Hamilton in Harris County, GA. He enlisted there on 4 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company K of the 35th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD, sick, on 10 September 1862, left behind, and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to about 19 September, then sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore by 3 December. He was transferred to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange on 8 December and was admitted to the CS General Hospital in Petersburg, VA on 10 December 1862. He was furloughed from the hospital on 22 March 1863 for 40 days.

He was killed in action at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864.
