Before Antietam
A 26 year old bookkeeper from Troy, PA, he enrolled and mustered in Harrisburg on 16 August 1862 as Captain of Company D of the 132nd Pennsylvania Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was with his company in Maryland and assisted the wounded Colonel Oakford to the rear in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He resigned his commission on 6 December 1862.
