Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 25 year old farmer living in Norfolk, VA. He enlisted at the Norfolk Navy Yard on 4 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company F, 41st Virginia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to about 19 September and transferred for exchange. He died of angina pectoris (probably coronary artery disease) in the Fairview Hospital in Lexington, VA on 26 February 1863.
