Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 15 year old living with his parents, 7 younger siblings, and 2 slaves on their farm near Watkinsville in Clarke County, GA. He enlisted in Goldsboro, NC on 7 May 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company C, 44th Georgia Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.
The rest of the War
He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 19 September and afterward was a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was admitted to the Camp Winder hospital in Richmond, VA on 11 October and died there the next day.
His father Green Huff filed a claim for his final pay in January 1863.
