Jesse D. Tucker

He was briefly postmaster at Page's Station, NC from November 1858 to March 1859, and in 1860 he was a 22 year old teacher living with his parents and 5 younger siblings on their small farm at Stone Lick in Randolph County, NC. He enlisted at Asheboro, NC on 12 March 1862 and mustered at Camp Mangum near Raleigh on 16 April as a Private in Company F, 46th North Carolina Infantry. He was 4th Corporal by June and was promoted to 3rd Corporal on 10 July.

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD on 9 September, left behind, and captured there on the 12th.

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 18 September and afterward was a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was in a Richmond, VA hospital by 7 October and was formally exchanged on 10 November 1862.

He returned to his company from the hospital on 17 April 1863. He was promoted to regimental Ordnance Sergeant on 19 August 1863 (approved by the War Department in February 1864) and he was surrendered with his regiment and paroled at Greensboro, NC on 1 May 1865.

In 1870 he was a physician at Jackson in Madison County, TN and he died there in October 1877.

He married Marinda C. Haltom (1849-1930) in Madison County, TN in December 1869. Marinda remarried, D.S. Fulbright, in Madison County, TN in May 1884.
