Jesse Martin Frank

In 1860 he was a 17 year old living with his parents and 4 siblings on their small farm near Silver Hill in Davidson County, NC. He was conscripted there on 30 July 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 48th North Carolina Infantry.

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 22 September and afterward was a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was in a Richmond, VA hospital by 20 October, sent to the parole camp there on 22 October, and was formally exchanged on 10 November. He was back in the hospital on 25 November and returned to duty on 20 January 1863. He was with his company to at least November 1864, the latest record in his military file.

In 1870 he was a farm worker living next door to his parents in Davidson County, NC but by 1880 and to at least 1910 he farmed his own place at Jackson Hill, NC.
