J.K.P. Stebbins

Before Antietam
Son of farmer and wagon maker Almerick Stebbins (1803-1854), in 1860 he was living with cousin Carlos Stubbins (and Carlos's parents Elijah and Harriet) on his farm at Pike, NY. He enlisted at age 18 on 13 May 1861 at nearby Nunda, NY to serve two years, and mustered as a Private in Company F, 33rd New York Infantry on 22 May.
On the Campaign
He was seriously wounded by a gunshot through his lungs in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and "left for dead."
The rest of the War
He was treated at the Smoketown Hospital near the battlefield and was discharged there for disability from wounds on 14 April 1863.
After the War
He moved to Ashtabula, OH in 1867 and was a watchmaker and jeweler there to at least 1910.
