Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 23 year old farmer wsith a small place near Dublin in Laurens County, GA. He enlisted in Augusta, GA on 16 May 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company G, 49th Georgia Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.
The rest of the War
He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 19 September and afterward was a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was formally exchanged on 10 November and was back on duty about March 1863. He was with his company to at least February 1865, the latest record in his military file.
After the War
By 1870 and to at least 1900 he was a farmer in Laurens County, GA.
