Joseph H. Bradberry

In 1860 he was a 20 year old farm hand living with his widowed mother and 2 younger siblings at Rockford in Coosa County, AL. He enlisted at Bell's Landing in Monroe County, AL on 29 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company D, 5th Alabama Infantry. They were re-designated Company C, date not found.

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD on 10 September, left behind, and captured there on the 12th.

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 19 September and afterward sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange, received there on 27 September. He was admitted to a Hospital in Richmond, VA on 30 September, sent to Scottsville, VA on 20 October, and was formally exchanged on 10 November to return to duty.

He was back in hospitals from February into May 1863. He was captured in action at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 13 May 1864 and a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD. He was transferred to Elmira, NY on 15 August and died there of pneumonia on 13 April 1865.
