Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 25 year old "gentleman" living with (his widowed mother?) Mary A Ellis, 2 younger siblings, and 12 slaves on their (probably cotton) plantation at Waukeenah in Jefferson County, FL. He enlisted at Monticello, FL on 11 December 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company A, 5th Florida Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD on 6 September, left behind, and captured there on the 12th.
The rest of the War
He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD and died there of disease on 30 September 1862.
