Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Columbus in Colorado County, TX on 10 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 5th Texas Infantry. He was sick in hospitals in Richmond, VA from October 1861 into February 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and "left on battlefield; not since heard from." He probably died on the field the same day.

References & notes

His service from Polley,1 who says he was killed outright at Sharpsburg, and his Compiled Service Records,2 online from fold3; there is no record of his capture on the field after the battle.
