Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 28 year old farmer in Leon County, FL. He enlisted at Tallahassee, FL on 12 April 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company C, 5th Florida Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.
The rest of the War
He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 19 September and afterward was a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was admitted to a Richmond, VA hospital with remittent fever on 9 October, furloughed home on 22 (or 28) October, and was formally exchanged on 10 November 1862. He returned to his company in January or February 1863, but was again hospitalized, on 26 April 1863, and could not return to duty. He was discharged at Tallahassee for disability on 30 October 1863.
After the War
In 1870 he was a farmer near Crawfordville in Wakula County, FL, but by 1880 was farming in Lowndes County, GA.
