In 1860 he was a 27 (24?) year old farmer near Madison Court House in Madison County, FL. He enlisted there (or at Camp Leon near Tallahassee, FL) on 28 April 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company D, 5th Florida Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 19 September, paroled by 3 October, and afterward transferred for exchange. He was admitted to the hospital at Camp Winder in Richmond, VA, but died there of chronic diarrhea on 31 October 1862.
