Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Camp Leon near Tallahassee, FL on 18 May 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 5th Florida Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD on 9 September, left behind, and captured there on the 12th.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 21 September and afterward paroled for exchange. He was in Richmond, VA hospitals by 3 October and to 20 December 1862, then returned to duty.

By a Special Order of 23 April 1863 he was transferred to Company E of the 10th Florida Infantry. He was furloughed home, sick, on 22 June 1863 and did not return until sometime between January and August 1864. He was with his company to at least February 1865, captured, date not found, and a prisoner at Libby Prison in Richmond, VA until paroled there on 21 April 1865.

After the War

In 1870 he was a farmer at Thomasville in Thomas County, GA but by 1800 was farming just across the state line at Iomonia in Leon County, FL.
