Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 27 year old mechanic at Tallahassee, Fl. He enlisted at Camp Anderson (or Leon) near Tallahassee, FL on 3 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 5th Florida Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD on 9 September, sick, left behind, and captured there.
The rest of the War
He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 22 September then at Fort Delaware and was a prisoner there to 2 October 1862, when he was paroled and sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was admitted to Camp Winder hospital in Richmond, VA on 7 October and died there of typhoid fever on 16 October 1862.
