John H. McIntosh

He enlisted Patrick Court House, VA on 1 April 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company A of the 58th Virginia Infantry. They were re-designated as Company H and he was appointed First Corporal by August 1862.

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to 18 September and afterward was a prisoner at the Old Capitol Prison in Washington, DC. He was admitted to the hospital there on 29 September then transferred for exchange. He was admitted to the Camp Winder Hospital in Richmond, VA on 9 October, and detailed as a nurse there on 11 January 1863. He returned to his company in February.

He was captured in action at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May, briefly held at the Old Capitol Prison in Washington, DC, then sent to Fort Delaware. He was paroled there, admitted to a CS hospital in Williamsburg, VA on 23 May, and returned to duty on 16 July 1863.

He was promoted to 3rd Sergeant by October 1864 but was furloughed home, sick, that month and then back in a Richmond hospital in November and December. He died on 1 January 1865, place not found.
