Before Sharpsburg

Age 23, he enlisted and mustered in Spartanburg on 21 November 1861 as a Private in Company A of the Holcombe Legion Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was sent to a hospital in Frederick, MD by 12 September, left behind, and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD to about 18 September and afterward was a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was in a Richmond, VA hospital by 10 October, furloughed for 30 days on 6 November, and formally exchanged on 10 November. No later military or civil records found.
