He enlisted in Albany, GA on 28 April 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E, 4th Georgia Infantry. He was promoted to 4th Sergeant on 20 June 1862 and was appointed First Sergeant of his company on 10 July.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
