Before Sharpsburg

From Baldwin County, he mustered as Private, Company H, 4th Georgia Infantry on 26 April 1861. He was appointed 2nd Corporal on 20 May and First Corporal later in 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the side and thigh in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, was captured, and probably died the same day.

Service information from Thomas1 and Henderson,2 who say he was killed outright on 17 September. His Sharpsburg wounding from a casualty list by Colonel Doles printed in The Confederate Union (Milledgeville, GA) of 14 October 1862, kindly provided by Laura Elliott. His memorial is on Findagrave.
