Before Antietam
A 31 year old shoemaker living in Reading, he enlisted as a Private in the First Company, Massachusetts Sharpshooters on 2 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was reported missing in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He transferred 24 July 1863 to the Veteran Reserve Corps and mustered out of Company B, 14th Regiment, VRC on 2 September 1864.
