He enlisted in Athens, GA on 25 April 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 3rd Georgia Infantry on 4 May in Augusta. He was discharged (?) 28 January 1862, but was back with his company by 28 April 1862, when he was appointed 3rd Corporal.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
