Before Antietam

He stated he was a 19 year old porter residing in Fitchburg when he mustered as Private in Company B of the 15th Massachusetts Infantry on 12 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot to the chest in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 26 September but died there on 3 October 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
