Before Antietam
A 27 year old laborer he enlisted in Richmond, VA as Private, Battery G, 4th US Artillery on 16 November 1858 for 5 years.
On the Campaign
He died of chronic diarrhea at US Army General Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD on 22 (or 23) October 1862.
The rest of the War
He was initially buried in Frederick and was reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
