Before Antietam
He was age 20 when he enlisted in Rochester, and he mustered in as Private, Company H, 108th New York Infantry on 24 July 1862.
On the Campaign
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 23 November for "debility" but died there on 21 December 1862.
After the War
He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
