Before Antietam
From Burrillville, he enlisted in Company D, 4th Rhode Island Infantry on 8 August 1861. He was promoted to Corporal on 25 September, and Sergeant on 20 November.
On the Campaign
Noted as being acting Lieutenant at Antietam, where he was mortally wounded.
The rest of the War
He died 21 October 1862, was buried at Keedysville, MD, and reinterred in the National Cemetery during or before 1867.
