He enlisted in Company G, 111th Pennsylvania Infantry on 24 February 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by gunshot wound which also fractured his right thigh in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated in a hospital in Fredrick, MD, but died there of wounds on 11 (or 8) February 1863.
