Before Antietam
He was 17 years old when he enlisted in Company E, 64th New York Infantry in September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 10 October 1862 with inflammation of the stomach and diarrhea and died there on 13 November 1862.
After the War
He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
