A 21 year old farmer from Salem, he enlisted in Company G, 32nd Massachusetts Infantry on 27 May 1862.
On the Campaign
He died of disease at Sharpsburg on 25 October 1862.
After the War
He was reinterred from his original burial on the Antietam battlefield to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
