Age 18, he enlisted 27 July 1862 at German Flats and mustered in as Private, Company B, 121st New York Infantry.

On the Campaign

He died of diphtheria on 23 November 1862 at Hagerstown, MD.

After the War

He was initially buried in Hagerstown and was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
