A 30 year old mason, he enlisted 9 May 1861 at Buffalo to serve two years, and mustered in as Private, Company G, 21st New York Infantry on 20 May.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Originally buried on the battlefield, he was reinterred in the National Cemetery in about 1867.
