Age 22, he enlisted in Little Falls on 9 August, and mustered as Private, Company H, 121st New York Infantry on 23 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in Maryland but died at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 13 November 1862.

After the War

He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown, but was reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in 1866-67.
