Before Antietam

An 18 year old carpenter in Kennett Square, he enlisted on 16 September 1861 in Columbia, and mustered into service as Private, Company K, 45th Pennsylvania Infantry on 21 October in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

After the War

He was reinterred from his original burial on South Mountain to the National Cemetery about 1867.
